The Packaging Cockpit serves as your “Single Source of Truth” – an audit-proof database for audits, regulatory authorities, retailers, and internal stakeholders.
Software alone cannot solve complex packaging problems. BPC is the official sales and implementation partner for Packaging Cockpit—and supports you from the initial data structure through to full rollout. We combine the technical power of the software with in-depth expertise in packaging and regulatory affairs.
The Packaging Cockpit is a specification management platform that centralizes all packaging data in one place. From entire packaging units to individual components and complex layer structures—all data is managed as modular building blocks and can be flexibly combined. A change to a single component immediately affects all linked units.
You can enter product information, filling materials, manufacturing details, and target markets using a structured input form. A consistent input logic is available for the main body as well as for all components—closures, decorations, inlays, and packaging aids. An integrated calculator automatically calculates material weights. With access to over 90 stored materials, you can define precise specifications for food and non-food applications.
With a single click, the Packaging Cockpit calculates the technical recyclability for all selected European markets. The software takes into account the actual collection, sorting, and recycling infrastructures of each market, as well as all legal requirements. The result: a well-founded, country-specific assessment that serves as the basis for the PPWR performance classes (Levels A through D) and the technical documentation.
Detailed graphical results are available for each country of distribution. The pie chart shows the overall recyclability as a percentage across the categories ‘Recyclable,’ ‘Recyclable (reduced quality),‘ ‘Non-recyclable,’ and ‘Non-recyclable (quality-reducing).’ At the material level, each layer is evaluated individually and the corresponding recycling stream is displayed—allowing you to immediately identify which component is limiting the recycling result.
The powerful comparison feature allows you to compare up to 10 packaging variants or designs at once—both in terms of recyclability and life cycle assessment. For the life cycle assessment comparison, there is also a scaling function: This allows packaging with different fill volumes or weights to be compared fairly and methodologically correctly. Design for recycling thus becomes a data-driven decision.
The Packaging Cockpit calculates standard-compliant life cycle assessments (LCAs) in accordance with the EU Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) Guideline, based on Circular Footprint formulas and Ecoinvent data. All 16 impact categories are calculated—from climate change and resource consumption to water use and toxicity. The results can be scaled to any quantity, fill volume, or fill weight and can be exported as PDF or Excel files.
In addition to recyclability and life cycle assessment, the Packaging Cockpit also tracks licensing fees (EPR) and plastic taxes on a country-by-country basis for all sales markets. This provides cost transparency and enables informed packaging optimization that directly impacts procurement.
The portfolio analysis calculates the weighted recyclability and overall life cycle assessment for the entire packaging portfolio or defined subsets—based on recorded sales volumes. This allows you to retrieve the KPIs for your sustainability report, for business negotiations, or for internal goal-setting with a single click.
Using the built-in Report Template Wizard, you can create customized specification and evaluation reports with varying levels of detail—for internal sustainability reports, for retailers, for government agencies, or for your suppliers. All reports can be exported as PDFs with a single click.
The data quality of a packaging specification stands or falls with the supply chain. The Packaging Cockpit solves this problem structurally: Suppliers enter their master data independently in a free basic version and release it directly to the producer—no email exchanges, no manual data entry errors.
The process in three steps:
I. Suppliers enter data directly into the system Bottle manufacturers, closure manufacturers, and label manufacturers enter their master data independently into the Packaging Cockpit and release it to the producer.
II. Producer consolidates everything The Packaging Cockpit bundles all components into complete product specifications—main body, closure, label—and calculates recyclability, carbon footprint, licensing fees, and plastic tax based on this data.
III. Data is distributed to all recipients The results are automatically prepared for all relevant stakeholders: retailers, internal reporting, government agencies and institutions, and external partners.
Joint development of a data structure tailored to your company: How is your packaging organized hierarchically? Which components come from which suppliers? We define the architecture, create briefing documents for your suppliers, and set up access in the Packaging Cockpit.
Outcome: An actionable implementation plan, supplier templates, and training videos
We contact your suppliers, oversee the data entry process, and verify the plausibility of all information received. Our team is available to answer any questions. The introduction of the EU Packaging Regulation 2026 raises many technical and strategic questions. Here you will find the most important answers regarding the Packaging Cockpit and its legally compliant implementation by BPC.
The Packaging Cockpit is a PPWR software solution for digital packaging management. It was developed to help manufacturers, producers, and importers comply with the requirements of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). The software automatically calculates technical recyclability, generates life cycle assessments (LCA), tracks licensing fees and plastic taxes, and serves as a central database for preparing the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) in accordance with Annex VII.
Starting August 12, 2026, the EU Declaration of Conformity (DoC) will be mandatory for all packaging placed on the market in the EU. Companies without complete technical documentation in accordance with Annex VII risk immediate loss of market access. The Packaging Cockpit automates this verification process and ensures your legal compliance.
The PPWR requires an extremely high level of data detail—ranging from the material composition of each layer to country-specific proof of recyclability (Art. 6) and the proportion of recycled content (Art. 7). Manual lists are prone to errors, not audit-proof, and do not meet the requirements for verifiable specification management. Specialized PPWR software such as Packaging Cockpit provides the necessary data structure and auditability.
Yes. The Packaging Cockpit calculates technical recyclability on a country-by-country basis for all EU markets—based on the actual collection, sorting, and recycling infrastructures of the respective target markets. The result is a well-founded assessment according to the PPWR performance classes (Levels A through D), which serves directly as the basis for technical documentation.
Suppliers (bottle manufacturers, closure manufacturers, label manufacturers) receive a free basic version of the Packaging Cockpit, which they can use to enter their master data directly and share it with the producer. This structured, digital data exchange throughout the entire supply chain is key to meeting the PPWR information requirements.
Digital Specs (starting at €12,000/year) covers the core functions for data management and recyclability calculations in up to 3 countries. PPWR Pro (starting at €32,000/year) adds EU-wide coverage, cost calculations, and carbon footprint LCA. PPWR Pro + LCA (starting at €65,000/year) is the expert package with global coverage and all 16 impact categories. All packages can be optionally expanded to include an ERP interface.
Yes. BPC uses specialized packaging AI that automatically extracts, validates, and transfers existing specifications from scans, PDFs, Word files, or Excel lists into the Packaging Cockpit’s structure. This saves months of manual work and ensures high data quality from the start.
